Our department provides fire protection & emergency services within the corporate limits of the City of Rockwood, serving approximately 6000 citizens.
The fire department responds to all emergencies in the City of Rockwood including all fires, medical & industrial emergencies, and traffic accidents. We also respond to other jurisdictions on request from other emergency departments through our mutual aid agreements. In 2014, our fire department answered over 900 calls, while serving our citizens.
Our department has 13 fulltime career firefighters & 16 paid on call firefighters. We operate four fire engines, one ladder truck & one light rescue truck based in one centrally located station. Our department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Along with responding to emergencies, we provide community fire education in our schools, businesses, industries, retirement facilities & general public on request. We provide fire extinguisher training to groups on request, with our state of the art extinguisher simulator. We also participate in the State Fire Marshall’s “Get Alarmed” Program which provides free smoke detectors to home owners.
The hard work and dedication of our
department members, and the support of our city
administration has allowed us to achieve an ISO rating
of “4” of which we are extremely proud. ISO rates fire
departments on a scale of 1 to 10 with “1” being the
best, the lower the rating, the lower rates are on your
home or business insurance. We will continue to strive
to make our department the best it can be for those we
serve.
